Plane Channel Simulation

    • Channel flow configuration with streamwise and spanwise periodic boundaries
    • Domain size: 8H × 3H × 2H where H is half channel height. Smallest wall-normal spacing is 2 × 10-3 H
    • Grid size sufficient for a well resolved LES
    • Energy needs to be injected into flow consistently to obtain sustained flow
    • Rescaling, pressure difference (between inlet and outlet) or adding streamwise source term
    • Finally, developed profile obtained by addition of appropriate source term

  • Perturbations (synthetic turbulence) added to include resolved turbulence along with the modeled turbulence
  • Then, run to let realistic physical turbulence to be obtained.
